(The premature demise of Prof. Halbfass in the summer of 2000 was a great loss for Indian philosophy; he was sorely missed at the 'After Max Mueller' conference in December 2000. Prof. Halbfass was very supportive of the activities of the Centre and had consented to be on the Editorial Advisory Board of a planned anthology).
